Top 5 most anticipated PS4 games

With the dust of E3 finally settling and all of the controversy of the systems (sort of) over, let’s talk about some of the most exciting games to come out of the conference, specifically the Playstation 4 as it is the console I plan to get. Many different games were shown but it also seemed that Sony was holding back on games a bit which isn’t a problem as gamescom and Tokyo Game Show are still coming up fairly soon. Regardless, here are my top 5 most anticipated titles for the Playstation 4 (so far).

5. Star Wars Battlefront:

The only multiconsole title on this list but how could I leave this one off? It’s Star Wars Battlefront. Sure, I’ve only just recently been exposed to Star Wars Battlefront (only in this past year) and I realized why everybody was obsessed with these games. It’s the most freeing Star Wars game ever. You have so many possibilities and options and can just have an all out brawl as your favorite characters. It’s awesome. So, with the announcement of a new one regardless of the fact that it was just a small trailer, it is still very exciting. And it is very exciting to have DICE being the ones to develop the title as to me, they are the perfect fit for this game. Overall, next generation+Star Wars Battlefront= very great thing as I can only imagine what they will be able to do with these next systems.

4. Octodad Dadliest Catch:

This game. Where do I even start? It is so ridiculous. And that is precisely why it is awesome. I don’t even totally know what the hell you are supposed to be doing in this game but you play as an octopus who is a dad and married to a human. I have no idea what this game is but I don’t care. It’s so weird and strange and different and quirky. It is my kind of weird stuff. It looks like it will just be a crazy indie title and I’m perfectly okay with that.

3. Knack:

This is still a surprising game to me as it didn’t really excite me at first, but, the more I hear about it, the more I like it. Also, I can’t just help but like Mark Cerny, he just talks about video games in a very elegant way which makes me want to support his games. To me though, this is the game that will bring in the Nintendo like feeling to the Sony console but not just be a replica to the fun we get with Nintendo games, rather, it will be something more. I think it provide a fun and entertaining story (with over 90 minutes of cut scenes and around a 10 hour campaign in general) that the system needs. It will certainly be a breath of fresh air in an industry where a lot of triple AAA games tend to be brown shooters or a repetitive mess. Overall, this is the title to look out for in my mind and I think it will surprise most people and quite possibly be one of the best launch titles for the system.

2. Killzone Shadow Fall:

Completely contradicting what I just said previously, here’s a shooter. Killzone is probably one of the only first person shooter franchises I enjoy but that doesn’t mean I love it. Killzone 2 had a fantastic campaign that surprised me with it’s story. Killzone 3 had a mediocre campaign but had great multiplayer just like the 2nd game. Still the Killzone games fall into the brown shooter category but Shadow Fall appears to be changing that. It seems to be a lush, colorful game that really shows what next generation consoles can do. My biggest hope is that this game can somewhat transcend the first person shooter genre a bit and maybe display that shooters can be a bit more than, “shoot a guy, move to the next room, shoot another guy,” I hope the game provides some innovation in a genre that desperately needs it.

1. Infamous Second Son:

I adore the first two Infamous games. They are the first open world games (in my opinion) to achieve fantastic story with the freedom that open world games provide. Many open world games cannot stay focused on the story or many don’t even bother to provide a really fantastic story, Infamous changed that. Cole and Zeke’s friendship in the games added so much emotional depth and on top of that, both games were fun as hell to play. You are loaded with crazy superpowers and just get to go insane. I hope Infamous Second Son can provide the same fantastic storytelling even without Cole and Zeke in the game, and honestly, I have a lot of faith in Sucker Punch. I certainly believe they can achieve that. I wasn’t extremely excited for this game until a game play video was released online and when it was, my excitement level for this game went up quite a bit. It showed some innovation in the Infamous gameplay that I already loved and on top of that it again, displayed what the next generation is already doing just in the early stages. This game will more than likely be the “Uncharted Drake’s Fortune” of the PS4 as I think it will be the first game to really show what the Playstation 4 can be and what can be improved on later on (just look at Uncharted 2 and how much better it looks compared to Drake’s Fortune).

To conclude, this generation excites me. Maybe it’s because it has been the longest gap in between consoles ever (were coming up on 7 years already) but it also just excites me to see all of these developers giving so much love to the Playstation 4. And on top of that, Sony is giving love to the indie developers which makes me very happy as they defiantly deserve it.
